Teaching and learning
In my head remains a debate about what part of the TL's teaching role is the most important. Is ot to source resources or is it to assist with skills?
As all students and teachers learn and teach differently, it is important that as a TL I remain aware and constantly consider these facts. Each TL's teaching style will not maximise learning for every student that they encounter. Students are both passive or active within their learning, whilst teachers are either behaviourist or constructivist within their teaching (generally speaking).
TL's are not only providers of information, in many facets and formats for our school community, but encouragers of life long learning through the explicit teaching of inquiry skills. We need to remember that we can assist in the search for information, but need to insist in the development of skills for independence by both teachers and students.
There is no clear answer to the initial question, nor does there need to be. Resourcing the school community and providing them with skills to be information literate travel hand in hand.
