Moral purpose and effecting change

Complex and problematic
One can not mandate committment and change amongst teachers, students or parents. When decisions are being made within schools, they need to be made for the benefit of the students and teachers alike, thus also the parents and community. Moral purpose should be the driving force behind these decisions.

Top-up mandates, top-down mandates nor bottom up-mandates will effectively bring moral changes within schools. Top-down mndates with bottom-up energies need each other to effect change, guided by moral purpose.

Change in schools should be driven by moral purpose to effect life long skills within the school community. Emphasis on academic achievement and outcomes based progress does not set students, teachers or parents up for successful life long learning. Student involvement, (in the classroom, school and home) values of helpfulness, responsibility and understanding of others, are skills for life, that for leaders should focus upon, moral purpose.
